Bethany Westlund, PhD is Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs at Harvard Medical School. She received her undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College and her graduate degree from Washington University in St. Louis, where she also conducted postdoctoral research. She then spent 13 years as a research scientist in the biotech industry. Dr. Westlund joined the Office for Faculty Affairs (OFA) in 2009 as a Program Director and transitioned to her current role in 2013.  As Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs, Dr. Westlund manages the evaluation processes for professorial promotions, professorial searches, and endowed professorship appointments, and chairs the Global and Community Health Appointments Committee, which reviews full-time and part-time faculty appointment exceptions for faculty who work in those areas.  She and several of her colleagues also give presentations on the promotion process and meet with faculty individually regarding CV preparation and the promotion process.
