Shore Program - Current Award Opportunities

A number of the awards in the Shore Program utilize a centralized, single-stream application which are listed under current award opportunities below and managed by the Office for Faculty Affairs. Information on additional award opportunities included in the program but managed independently can be found at the end of this page.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must: 

  • Have an academic appointment as Instructor or Assistant Professor at time of submission (to confirm your active academic appointment, click here on Harvard Catalyst profiles) 
  • Hold an MD, DMD, PhD, or equivalent advanced degree 
  • Have a named Primary Project Mentor 
  • Have a statement of support by a Primary Project Mentor 
  • Provide information on IRB/IACUC status, if currently under review 
  • Not currently have an R01 (or similar mid-career grant) 
  • Past award recipients are ineligible*

Eligible faculty must submit a completed application for consideration to the award opportunities listed above. In addition to basic demographic information, the application will include a series of questions focused on personal need. The following project related details (submitted as a single .pdf document) along with a statement of support by the applicant's project mentor will be part of the final submission. Formal instructions, including a form template can be found under "Eligibility Requirements". 

‘Academic Project’ requirements include: 

  • Project Title 
  • Project Description (based on Academic Promise) (max 2-pages) 
  • Budget Narrative (max 1-page) 
  • Budget Proposal (max 1-page) 
  • Faculty of Medicine Curriculum Vitae (not an NIH Biosketch) 
  • IRB/IACUC approval or submission confirmation, if currently under review 

Statement of Support 
Each application must receive a statement of support consisting of a series of online questions from the applicant’s primary project mentor.  Applicants will be prompted to include their mentor’s name and email address (only one) in order for the online request to be sent directly from the application system.  Please no letters. We recommend that you notify your mentor of the posted deadline well in advance.

This 22-minute presentation is a great introduction to the Eleanor and Miles Shore Faculty Development Awards Program at Harvard Medical School.
