Understanding the complex landscape of academic appointments and promotions–including the governing policies, as well as the necessary processes and documents–can be a daunting task for faculty members and administrators alike. The resources in this section are designed to guide and support users as they navigate various appointment-related activities in the Harvard Faculty of Medicine.

  • CV Generator: An online application providing faculty members the ability to create and maintain their curriculum vitae (CV). Users can import an existing CV in the Harvard Faculty of Medicine format or create a new CV. All data are securely stored and can be exported as a properly formatted document at any time.
     
  • Faculty of Medicine CV Guidelines: A collection of CV formatting resources, including pre-formatted Microsoft Word templates, as well as a detailed, section-by-section guide explaining how to format each section of the Harvard Faculty of Medicine CV.
     
  • Faculty of Medicine Handbook: A detailed resource that explains the current practices, policies, and guidelines governing appointments at Harvard Medical School and Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
     
  • Forms and Templates: A resource primarily for departmental administrators, this is a collection of relevant administrative documents required for various appointment actions in the Faculty of Medicine. Detailed checklists and templates are available to assist in preparing appointment-related materials. 
     
  • Promotion Profile Library: Metrics for appointment to each academic rank, categorized by Area of Excellence, as well as metrics for each Significant Supporting Activity.
