BIO

As Program Director of Academic Operations, Margaret oversees academic collaborations, manages faculty recruitment and promotion processes, and ensures compliance with preclinical departments' institutional standards (Quad). Margaret also facilitates communication between the OFA and other HMS offices and supports career development initiatives for non-ladder researchers.

Before joining the OFA, Margaret had a significant background in academia affairs and higher education management. She spent over nine years at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University, where she was Senior Academic Affairs Manager. In this role, she oversaw all aspects of Academic Affairs, managing academic appointments of postdoctoral fellows, visiting scholars, and graduate students. She handled crucial tasks like recruitment, onboarding, reappointments, and other related processes. Additionally, Margaret managed the complex realm of visas (J, H, B, F) and immigration procedures for academic personnel associated with the Wyss Institute. She also managed Academic Affairs' staff, budgets, and administrative processes. Prior to her tenure at the Wyss Institute, Margaret also worked at Tufts Medical School, further enriching her experience in higher education and medical school in particular. She completed a Doctor of Education (EdD) degree during full-time employment. Her dissertation, titled "The Stresses of the Second-Year Generation Y Medical Student: A Phenomenological Study," highlights her commitment to the field of higher education.

Margaret loves exploring the world through travel, constantly seeking out unique and memorable experiences—including rowing in the annual giant pumpkin regatta in the fall. She also enjoys home improvement projects.
