BIO 

Jennifer J. Shin, MD, SM serves as Associate Dean for Faculty Affairs at Harvard Medical School. In this role, her work includes oversight of the Promotions and Reappointments Committee, as well as the Longer Service Committee, and our Assistant and Associate Professor Team within the Office for Faculty Affairs. Dr. Shin is a methodologist, scholar, and leader in outcomes research and evidence-based practice in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. She has served as chair of the Outcomes Research and Evidence-Based Medicine Leadership Group and Committee for the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and has served in the leadership for multiple clinical consensus statements and clinical practice guidelines. She is the lead editor of two textbooks and has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, primarily focused on advancing rigorous evidence-based practice. Prior to joining the Office for Faculty Affairs, she served concurrently as the Vice Chair for Academic Affairs at Longwood for the cross-hospital Harvard Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, as well as the Vice Chair for Faculty Development in the Department of Surgery at Brigham and Women's Hospital. With her strong interest in faculty development, she will also be engaged in the related efforts for the Office for Faculty Affairs in the years to come.

Dr. Shin received her undergraduate degree from Harvard College and her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in the Health Sciences and Technology program. She completed her residency at the Harvard Program in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, followed by a fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology. She also holds a master's degree in epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health, where she has taught regularly for over a decade. Her clinical practice is focused primarily on otology, sinonasal diseases, pediatric and comprehensive otolaryngology.
